I love Gala more than anything - my mother, father and even gold. Don't be afraid of perfection. You will never reach it! The same happens to me as to Don Juan: where ever I go, there is always a scandal. The two most important things to the artists: 1. To be Spanish. 2. To have the name Salvador Dalí. There is almost always something holy about mistakes. Never try to correct them. What we see isn't in things, but in our souls. Nobody understands Dalí, even Dalí, because Dalí only creates enigma. We paranoics have the gift of getting it all together.
The distress of space and time is presented by my very famous melting watches. I've painted with everything, frogs, snails and octopusses, even in oil paintings. I copy a photograph and out comes a Dalí. I am painting Gala and Dalí… Dalí and Gala. The only person who counts in my life is my wife Gala. Gala transforms my madness into a rational organization of a critical type. All of my experiences of a romantic nature become pure classicism.
Dalí saved modern painting from slackness and caos. Contrary to popular opinion mysticism means gold. Take base matter at the moment of becoming gold and this is how you spiritualize matter.
If someday I die, someone will say: let's see if he's dead, maybe he's just hibernating.
