  • EILA HILTUNEN - RETROSPECTIVE JUBILEE EXHIBITION

The retrospective exhibition shows professor Eila Hiltunen's sculptures from 1940 to 2000, as well as gouaches and jewellery designed by her. Some of the sculptures are shown outside in the museum sculpture park. The exhibition also presents Eila Hiltunen as a sculptor of public monuments.

Eila Hiltunen is one of the leading modern sculptors in Finland and internationally one of the most successful Finnish artists. She has significantly changed sculpting methods and been in the forefront of new welding techniques. She is also one of the pioneers of abstract sculpting in Finland. Examples of Eila Hiltunen´s outständing works can be seen world wide - in the United States, Germany, Canada, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iran and France.

The exhibition consists of works from the Didrichsen Art Museum collections, Eila Hiltunen's private collection, Ateneum Art Museum, Helsinki City Art Museum, Joensuu Art Museum and Rovaniemi Art Museum collections, and private collections in Finland.

A documentary film has been produced on Eila Hiltunen, which was shown on television in Finland on September 13. A summary of the documentary can be seen at the museum. The long version (55 min.) is available in the museum shop.

The Didrichsen Art Museum has published an elegant art book on the artist, CREDO, which is also available in the museum shop. If you are interested in ordering the book, please write to office@didrichsenmuseum.fi. The price is FIM 220,- (37 EURO) plus handling and postage.
