'PRO MAYA' support project

The Didrichsen Art Museum is supporting the poor village of El Zapote in the Cancuen-area. The raised funds will be directed to specific aid projects without any costs of transferring the money to Guatemala.

The money for the first aid project has been collected by the end of December 2005, a clean water system for El Zapote. The following project will be focusing on the reforestation of the rainforest.

There are 90 families living in El Zapote and it is one of the poorest villages around Cancuen, with an average income of 1 dollar per day. Child mortality is very high because of the village water being polluted and the children suffer from chronic diarrhea and respiratory problems.

Join us and support the indigenous Mayans by purchase of an exhibition publication or a support pin from the museum shop or by donation to the support account!
