Exhibitions

Two exhibitions in the Didrichsen autumn of 2009

The artist couple Alvar and Ragni Cawén

Alvar (1886-1935) and Ragni (1891-1981) Cawén began their artistic careers in the 1910s, but after their marriage Ragni paid less attention to art. However, following Alvar’s untimely death she again turned to painting, developing an expressive style of her own. The Didrichsen Art Museum possesses works by both of them and these are now being exhibited alongside those kindly lent by other art museums and private collectors. The exhibition and its book present for the first time the work of both of these artists simultaneously.

Sculptor Kim Simonsson (1974 - )

The second exhibition at the Didrichsen Art Museum in the autumn of 2009 shows Kim Simonsson´s large ceramic figures. Simonsson gets his inspiration from the Japanese Manga, litterature and film.

Kim Simonsson received the Didrichsen Pro Arte -award in the spring of 2009. The award also includes this exhibition as well as a lavishly designed book. The exhibition contains mostly new art works from 2009, including Ghost Dog II, which was commissioned by the Didrichsen Art Museum. Simonsson has in a creative way made use of the museum premises; the pool, the large windows and the museum's ancient collections.
