Juhani Linnovaara´s (born 1934) retrospective exhibition at the Didrichsen Art Museum presents the arti´st´s work from the 1950s up to his maojor canvases painted specially for the occasion. It includes a broad selection of paintings, graphics, sculptures and jewellery loaned by private owners and art museums, as well as those from Didrichsen´s own collection.

During his long career, Linnovaara has adapted many of the "isms" and movements in art to his own distinctive visual world, offering them to the public spiced with his special brand of satire and humour. Linnovaara, who has been honoured with the Pro Finlandia award and the title of professor, has also acquired a considerable reputation abroad.

The catalogue accompanying the exhibition contains an in-depth essay by art critic Juha-Heikki Tihinen, PhD, a biography, the first study of the artist´s monumental paintings and a presentation of his jewellery designs. The 197-page book in Finnish, Swedish and English is available from the Museum´s bookshop.
