For the Didrichsen Art Museum's 2024 summer exhibition, graffiti artist EGS transforms the museum into an embassy of an imaginary state. CARL-HENNING PEDERSEN

7.9.2024–26.1.2025

Birds, suns, ships in the sky and fairytale castles: the fantasy imagery of Danish artist Carl-Henning Pedersen (19132007) will take over the museum in autumn 2024. Pedersen, who had a long career, was one of the most important artists of Danish modernism. He also belonged to the important international CoBrA group.

Didrichsen Art Museum organised Pedersen's first exhibition in Finland in 1968, and the museum's own collection includes many works by him. The works in the exhibition are on loan from the Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum in Herning, Denmark.

REIDAR SÄRESTÖNIEMI

100 YEARS

8.2.–1.6.2025

Spring 2024 will mark the centenary of Reidar Särestöniemi's (1925–1981) birth. The exhibition at Didrichsen Art Museum will feature works from the museum's own collection, as well as works from private and museum collections in Finland. The main focus of the exhibition is Särestöniemi's special connection with nature, a strong identification with the Lappish environment reflected in his art. For Särestöniemi, working in Lapland was essential.
